KIMBERLEY – The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lt Gen Koliswa Otola accompanied by the Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Maj Gen Jacques Raymond, the Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services, Maj Gen Thabo Mphuthi, District Commissioner of Frances Baard District, Maj Gen Johan Bean were joined by stakeholders within the JCPS cluster including the SANDF, the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison, Department of Correctional Services, the Provincial and Municipal Traffic, the Community Police Forum, the Kimberley Ministers Fraternal, the SAPS Spiritual Crime Prevention Forum and the community at large, at a Easter Church Service dedicated to Law Enforcement Officers. The service was held on 19 March 2024 at the TD Church in New Park, Kimberley. A drill platoon led by the Provincial SAPS Band marched to the entrance of the church, where they were acknowledged by the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Otola. The opening prayer was delivered by Arch Bishop MJ Cross followed by the welcoming address by the Frances Baard District Commissioner, Maj Gen Johan Bean, who acknowledged all dignitaries and attendees from all departments, religious fraternities and communities. The Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services, Maj Gen Thabo Mphuthi, outlined the purpose of the day. The Keynote Address was delivered by Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, who commended all the Law Enforcement agencies for their hard work thus far and wished them all the best for the upcoming Easter Holiday duties. She also emphasized personal safety of our colleagues and partners in the fight against crime. We will continue as a collective to squeeze the space for criminals to operate.
Chaplains from the Department of Correctional Services, the Traffic Department, SANDF, SAPS, and religious leaders from the community were afforded the opportunity to deliver scriptures and Easter messages.
