Don Laka returns to the stage with new album ‘Invitation 2’
Don Laka is making a grand return to the music scene with a brand-new 24-track album titled Invitation 2, bridging a nearly 20-year gap since the release of the original Invitations in 2007.
The legendary musician is set to bring his signature sound into a new era, blending classic South African jazz with modern rhythms.
The upcoming project is deeply rooted in the timeless melodies that have defined Laka’s illustrious musical journey.
It serves as a celebration of South African musical evolution, introducing a fresh generation of artists and collaborators to the jazz world.
At the core of the album is Laka’s pioneering genre, Kwaai Jazz—a unique fusion of traditional jazz with home-grown South African styles such as Kwaito, Kwela, and Marabi.
This major release follows Laka’s high-profile return to the Sony Music family in April 2026, marking an exciting new chapter in his career.
