Delft Police crack down on drug dealing

CAPE TOWN – SAPS Delft Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) members remain committed to make in-roads in the fight against the prevalence of drugs which is a major contributor to serious and violent crime in their precinct. Their commitment was rewarded when they arrested two men, aged 24 and 30, for the illegal possession of drugs yesterday.

On Tuesday 07 May 2024 at about 11:00, Delft CPU members performed stop and search operations in Palm Street, Delft South, when the members searched a 30-year-old man and found 199 mandrax tablets in his possession. The suspect was immediately arrested for the illegal possession of drugs.

The above followed a similar incident earlier the same day, when members were busy with their daily duties, they stopped and searched a 24-year-old man, in the same street. They found him in possession of 49 sachets of tik. The suspect was subsequently arrested for the illegal possession of drugs.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court today, (Wednesday, 08 May 2024) on the mentioned charge.
