Former Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker has made a startling admission about his personal life, revealing that his struggles with addiction affected his relationship with his former wife Kacha Stepanovic.

Parker, who is currently the head coach of TS Galaxy, announced their separation in a lengthy social media statement that was later deleted, apologising for the pain he caused and taking responsibility for his mistakes.

“I have made mistakes and struggled with personal addictions that have affected my life and the people I love,” Parker wrote.

He also praised Stepanovic for standing by him, admitting that his actions had hurt her despite the love and support she had shown him.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star said the pair would continue to co-parent their six children, stressing that their separation would not change their commitment to raising them.

“Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we hoped,” he admitted, adding that he regretted his mistakes.

In a separate social media post, Stepanovic appeared to respond to Parker’s statement with a pointed message about addiction and betrayal.

“Lust and addiction will strip you of your family, your work, your name and everything you built,” she wrote.

She added a warning about the consequences of betrayal, urging people to consider whether their actions were worth risking everything they had built.

The posts have drawn attention to the couple’s split, with Parker publicly acknowledging his struggles and expressing regret over the relationship’s breakdown.

It is meanwhile unclear if Parker will lead TS Galaxy when they meet Orlando Pirates in a Betway Premiership match at Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday night.

The team has not had a good start under his guidance, and the club’s management are believed to be looking at bringing in a new coach.
