POTCHEFSTROOM – Petroluck Mfanafuthi Zulu (30) who appeared before the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 14 February 2025, for possession of a suspected stolen truck, will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, 24 February 2025. Zulu’s court appearance follows his arrest on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, in Nelson Mandela Drive, Potchefstroom. According to information, a look-out was given about a hijacked truck that was on the way from Carletonville towards Potchefstroom. The watchful members of Public Order Police (POP), who were on patrol, spotted and stopped the truck matching the given description. The driver was allegedly arrested after failing to account for the truck valued at R800 000-00. Initial investigation indicated that the suspects, driving in white Volkswagen Polo, allegedly hijacked the truck earlier on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, in Bekkersdal, Gauteng Province. The suspects who were allegedly wearing Metro Police uniform approached and stopped the truck, pointed the driver with a firearm and forced him into their car and ultimately dropped him off at Duduza Cemetery. Investigation into the matter continues.
