NFP’s Cynthia Mbali Shinga Urges Calm and Focus on Governance Following High Court Judgment
The National Freedom Party and former members of KwaZulu-Natal Legislature Mbali Shinga has officially noted the recent judgment handed down by the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.
In a formal statement, Shinga reaffirmed her long-standing position that legal disputes must be determined through appropriate judicial processes.
Emphasising her deep respect for the constitutional authority of South Africa’s judiciary, she noted that her alignment with section 1(c) of the Constitution guides her obligation to respect the rule of law as a foundational value of the Republic.
Despite acknowledging the court’s verdict, Shinga highlighted that she retains full access to further legal remedies.
She has already instructed her legal team to carefully review the judgment in its entirety and explore a potential appeal within the legally stipulated timeframe.
In light of the court’s decision, Shinga issued an urgent call for calm, discipline, and unity among all NFP structures, public representatives, and supporters across KwaZulu-Natal.
She strongly cautioned members against using the judgment to fuel internal divisions, orchestrate public attacks, or disrupt the stability of the party.
“Most importantly, this matter must not derail the NFP’s political programme in KwaZulu-Natal,” Shinga stated.
She urged the party’s leadership and branches to remain steadfastly focused on core local objectives, including mobilizing communities, strengthening branch networks, and growing electoral support to secure meaningful municipal representation.
Shinga concluded by reminding the party that the ultimate priority must remain addressing the severe socio-economic challenges confronting everyday citizens in the province.
She stressed that tackling high unemployment, deep poverty, failing infrastructure, and ongoing service-delivery bottlenecks must remain at the center of the NFP’s legislative and community work.
