Madlanga Commission to resume on Tuesday, not Monday
The #Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will resume its public hearings on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, a day later than initially expected.
The commission had been due to return from its short recess on Monday, 14 September, but proceedings will now continue at 09:30 on Tuesday instead. The commission confirmed the revised date.
The recess followed the commission’s last sitting on 2 September. The break was linked to prior commitments involving two commissioners, which had been made when the inquiry was still expected to conclude in August. Its deadline has since been extended.
The commission’s public evidence is scheduled to conclude on 2 October, with the final report to President Cyril Ramaphosa due on 16 November 2026.
Among the outstanding matters is the evidence of former Crime Intelligence deputy head Major-General Feroz Khan, which has been postponed to 28 September at 09:30, subject to conditions relating to an independent medical assessment.
The commission was established following allegations by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi concerning criminality and political interference within law enforcement. Hearings are being held at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.
