Mapisa-Nqakula’s bid to have corruption charges thrown out dismissed by High Court

The Pretoria High Court has dismissed former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s Section 174 application to have 12 corruption charges and one money-laundering charge thrown out, with Judge Mashudu Munzhelele ruling that the trial must continue.

The State argued there was enough evidence after closing its case that she solicited about R4.5 million, including R2.1 million in cash from SANDF contractor Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu while she was Defence Minister between 2016 and 2019.
