Former daycare employee sentenced to three life terms for Bloemfontein triple murder
A former daycare employee has been sentenced to three life terms for the murders of her former employer, her employer’s daughter, and her son-in-law in Wilgehof, Bloemfontein.
Mpheng Anna Ntsoeu, 30, was convicted on Wednesday of three counts of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and money laundering. She was sentenced in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein today, Thursday to three life sentences, with an additional 15 years for robbery and 10 years for money laundering. The sentences will run concurrently.
Christo Theron, 36, his wife Janine, 35, and her mother Betsie Kruger, 66, were found dead at Kruger’s residence in Van Heerden Street on 29 June 2023. The three had been tied up and strangled, while an undisclosed amount of money, a laptop, and personal belongings were taken.
The case was treated as a cold case before Captain Jacques Wilson took over the investigation. Months of follow-up work led to Ntsoeu and her boyfriend being arrested in August 2024. Ntsoeu’s co-accused, Katlego Ronald Moroe, was acquitted on all charges.
Free State police commissioner Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia praised Wilson and the investigating team for their persistence in bringing the case to court.
