Chiefs coach gives injury update ahead of Siwelele clash
Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has provided an injury update as the club battles several fitness concerns early in the season.
Amakhosi began the campaign without Rushine Dortley, Nkanyiso Shinga and Mduduzi Shabalala, who were all carrying injuries from last season. Shabalala has since returned to action.
Chiefs have also had to cope without Paseko Mako, Bradley Cross, Kabelo Nkgwesa and, more recently, Langelihle Phili.
The latest concern is Thabiso Monyane, who has reportedly been ruled out of competitive action for four weeks. He joins the others on the sidelines.
Chiefs are preparing to face Siwelele in a Betway Premiership clash in Dobsonville this weekend. They will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign.
Despite the growing injury list, Da Cruz says he is not overly concerned and has praised the club’s medical team.
“There are two types of injuries,” said Da Cruz. “Injuries players had last season, so it takes time for us to recover these players to 100%.
“And the injuries that happened this season, our medical staff is doing a very good job, and they are trying to do their best to recover the players as soon as possible.
“But when we have injured players, it shows in our squad, so we are not worried about that.”
