Chiefs’ North West supporters miss on chance to watch team live as game moves to famed Soweto venue
Kaizer Chiefs supporters in the North West who were looking forward to watching their team live in their backyard have been left disappointed.
Amakhosi were scheduled to play their next home Betway Premiership match against Siwelele FC at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
The match was initially scheduled for Saturday, September 5. The fixture had generated excitement among football-starved supporters in the province, who were looking forward to seeing Chiefs play closer to home.
However, the club has now announced a change of venue. The match will no longer be played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. It has been moved to Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.
The date has also changed. Instead of playing on Saturday, Chiefs will now host Siwelele on Sunday, September 6.
Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm at the former home of Moroka Swallows in the heart of Soweto.
The venue change is likely to disappoint many Chiefs supporters in the North West who had already been planning to attend the match in Rustenburg.
Those hoping to watch Amakhosi in action will now have to travel to Soweto for the fixture.
The change means the team will no longer bring Betway Premiership football to the province as initially planned
