Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Asanele Velebayi has backed new signing Faiz Abrahams to make a big impact at Naturena.
Abrahams joined Chiefs on a season-long loan from Stellenbosch earlier this month.

However, the 21-year-old is yet to make his debut after the opening three Betway Premiership matches and the first round of the MTN8.
Chiefs coach Fernando da Cruz has called for patience with the midfielder.

Abrahams arrived without having completed a pre-season, forcing the technical team to carefully manage his fitness.

Velebayi knows Abrahams well. The pair came through the Cape Town Spurs system and were teammates during the 2023/24 season.
The Chiefs midfielder believes having his former teammate at Naturena will also push him to improve.

“With Faiz, because I’ve known him, having him here is good because it helps you give your best because you know there’s competition,” Velebayi said.

“You can’t be comfortable in anything. Having Faiz is a positive thing because I know the magic that he has, and I know he’s going to help us a lot. I know he’s going to deliver.”
Velebayi has also warned Abrahams about the pressure that comes with playing for Chiefs.

“Obviously, I spoke to him. I told him the pressure is going to be high, but just try to control what you can, which is staying calm and giving your best for the team.”
