Orlando Pirates have confirmed that Sihle Nduli will be sidelined for an extended period after suffering an ankle injury.

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that Sihle Nduli will be sidelined for an extended period after suffering an ankle injury.

Nduli was injured during Pirates’ 1-1 draw against AmaZulu at Kings Park Stadium in midweek. The 30-year-old midfielder was forced off after a heavy challenge.

Further assessment by the club’s medical team revealed a Grade 3 ligament tear. Nduli is expected to be out for approximately four months, ruling him out for the remainder of the year.

His absence is a blow for Pirates, with the midfielder having only recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. New signing Thapelo Mokobodi replaced Nduli in the starting XI in Sunday’s Betway Premiership clash against Chippa United.

Pirates were also without Andre de Jong, who missed the match after suffering a quad strain. Meanwhile, Tshepang Moremi failed a late fitness test after picking up a knock against AmaZulu. Oswin Appollis started in Moremi’s place, while Yanela Mbuthuma continued to lead the attack.
