Pirates move top as Lungu, Seema and Msendami sink winless Chippa
Orlando Pirates bounced back from their midweek draw with a convincing 3-0 win over Chippa United at Kings Park Stadium on Sunday.
The victory sends the defending Betway Premiership champions to the top of the early league standings. After a tightly contested first half, Ghampani Lungu broke the deadlock for Pirates in the second half.
The goal shifted the momentum in favour of the Buccaneers. Chippa struggled to create clear chances as Pirates grew stronger. Pirates doubled their lead in the 82nd minute. Deon Hotto delivered a dangerous corner, which Lebone Seema headed into the bottom corner.
Daniel Msendami then sealed the victory after coming off the bench. He capitalised on a defensive mistake to make it 3-0. The defeat means Chippa remain without a win after three league matches. They have managed two draws and suffered one defeat.
Pirates, meanwhile, got the response coach Abdeslam Ouaddou wanted after the AmaZulu draw. The Buccaneers looked composed, clinical and in control as they continued their title defence.
