Limpopo murder

The search for a man wanted in connection with the shocking death of a Limpopo woman has come to an end after police tracked him down following days of intensive investigations.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday, 24 July 2026, after police allegedly found him hiding in Ha-Lambani Vhufumba village in the Vhembe District. His arrest follows the discovery of his 40-year-old girlfriend’s body inside a pit toilet at her home in nearby Ha-Lambani Mahagala village, a case that has left the local community reeling.

The gruesome discovery was made on Sunday, 19 July 2026, at approximately 11:40, when concerned family members found the woman’s body concealed inside the pit toilet and covered with a blanket. The horrifying scene immediately sparked alarm among residents, who alerted police.

Police officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel rushed to the property, where the woman’s body was recovered from the pit toilet. Preliminary investigations indicate that she sustained injuries to her face and head before her death.

Authorities launched an intensive search for the woman’s boyfriend, who became the focus of the murder investigation. After several days of searching, officers located and arrested the suspect on Friday.

The 40-year-old is expected to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July 2026, where he will face a charge of murder.

The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has drawn widespread attention across the Vhembe District. However, investigators say their work is far from over as they continue gathering evidence to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Police have confirmed that investigations remain ongoing.
