Stellenbosch FC Sign Terrence Mashego on Loan from Mamelodi Sundowns for 2026/27 Season
Stellenbosch FC have moved decisively to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, securing the services of experienced defender Terrence Mashego on a season-long loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The arrival of the accomplished left-back signals Stellenbosch’s intent as they prepare for another demanding campaign. Mashego brings with him a wealth of top-flight experience, a winning mentality and a decorated career that could prove invaluable to Steve Barker’s side.
The 28-year-old joins Stellenbosch after an impressive loan spell with Durban City, where he played a key role in the club’s successful Nedbank Cup campaign last season. The triumph marked the second Nedbank Cup winner’s medal of his career, having first lifted the prestigious trophy with TS Galaxy in 2019.
Mashego’s success extends well beyond knockout football. During his time at Mamelodi Sundowns, he collected three Betway Premiership titles and celebrated victory in the African Football League, establishing himself as part of one of South Africa’s most dominant football teams.
His achievements have also been recognised on the international stage. Mashego was a member of the Bafana Bafana squad that secured a third-place finish at the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, adding further pedigree to an already accomplished résumé.
Stellenbosch FC Chief Executive Officer Rob Benadie believes Mashego’s arrival will significantly strengthen the club as they look to compete on multiple fronts this season.
