Former MK party head Magasela Mzobe calls for protection of MK party President Jacob Zuma amid reported India meeting controversy

Former Umkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) Head of Presidency Magasela Mzobe has called on party members to protect party leader Jacob Zuma, saying he should be shielded from political attacks following recent reports about a private meeting in India.

The reports allege that Zuma met businessman and wanted criminal Ajay Gupta during a visit to the country.

Mzobe also raised concerns about accountability within the party leadership, including remarks linked to Jacob Zuma Foundation Spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi.

“It’s a collective responsibility of both the MKP leadership and membership to protect its President from any possible harm , politically or otherwise. The reported meeting of President Zuma with Ajay Gupta is harmful to our President and the movement as a whole. I hope the MKP leadership won’t entangle itself, the President , and our movement into this Manyi-Gupta entanglement . Cde Mzwanele Manyi and the JG Foundation must take full responsibility for the Indian trip presented to the President as a private visit for religious purposes.
Mzobe said in the 18 months he spent as MKP Head of Presidency , never once did Zuma or the leadership of MKP have any interaction with the Guptas or any of their associates.
“I comradely appeal to the leadership to protect the President and our movement and hold Cde Manyi accountable for this ,like we did with Cde Duduzile on the Russia debacle and Cde Floyd on Malawi,” he wrote.
The MK Party has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
