Bafana analyst Mali’s professionalism question after post-patch outburst
Bafana Bafana video analyst Sinesipho Mali has set social media ablaze after a video surfaced showing him being reprimanded for firing back at critics following the national team’s historic World Cup achievement.
The dramatic moment unfolded on Thursday morning in Monterrey, right after Hugo Broos’ side secured a monumental 1-0 victory over South Korea to book their spot in the tournament’s knockout stages.
Overjoyed and clearly feeling vindicated, Mali could not contain his emotions when speaking to the media.
“Others are home talking. We are here doing the work, that is the difference hey,” Mali declared passionately. “Second senior World Cup and we are in the knockout stage.”
The fiery outburst quickly caught the attention of South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Lydia Monyepao, who was standing directly behind him.
Recognizing the potential PR storm, Monyepao immediately stepped in to reprimand the analyst, interjecting with a stern, “Hhayi wena maan!” (Hey, stop it!).
Despite Monyepao and other team officials trying to silence him and pull him away from the microphones, a defiant Mali refused to back down.
“Let them talk, no they must talk, they must talk,” Mali insisted as he was led away.
The video has since gone viral on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), dividing football fans between those who praise his passion and others who question his professionalism.
Mali had also earlier interjected during a SuperSport TV post-match interview between Bafana legend Siphiwe Tshabalala and presenter Julia Stuart.
He unprofessionally came between the two and shouted: “They must never doubt us! They talk at home, we do it here!”
