HIP-HOP GROUP WTF PARTS WAYS WITH MEMBER MOSHINE
Durban-based hip-hop group Witness The Funk (WTF) has parted ways with group member Moshine.
The group, which shot to fame with their hit song titled Nomusa, has officially cut ties with Moshine (real name Nhlakanipho Shongwe), who is allegedly facing drug-related problems.
The remaining group members are Lindokuhle Gcwensa, known as Efelow, and Charles Mchunu, whose stage name is Aux Cable.
In a statement released on Thursday, the group said:
“To our supporters, family, and everyone who has stood by us: we see you, and we appreciate you more than words can express. We’ve noticed the questions and the concern, and we feel it’s important to address things with the clarity and respect you deserve.
“Witness The Funk (WTF) and Nhlakanipho Shongwe (Moshine) have officially parted ways. We are no longer affiliated in any capacity. This was not a decision made lightly. We gave everything we had on our end—time, effort, chances, and grace—but despite our best efforts, it simply did not work out. We hold no ill will, but we must be honest about where things stand.”
The group further stated that they understand many of their fans love Moshine and expected him to continue as part of the collective.
“We acknowledge that, and we respect the connection you feel. However, this chapter has closed, and we are moving forward with purpose, with passion, and with all of you by our side. To publications, promoters, bookers, and anyone working in the industry: We firmly ask that going forward, Moshine’s name not be tied to the Witness The Funk brand or our faces in any news, booking, promotion, event, or communication.
“We have cut all ties officially, and we ask that this be respected across the board. We wish Moshine nothing but the very best. We sincerely hope the road ahead brings him everything he’s working toward. To our community, thank you. Your love and loyalty fuel everything we do. We are beyond excited for what’s coming, and we are committed to making you, our families, and everyone who believes in us incredibly proud.”
