RAL INJECT R40 MILLION TO GREATER TZANEEN UNPATCHABLE GEORGE ‘S VALLEY ROAD
TZANEEN: Provincial MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure Ernest Rachoene, in partnership with Road Agency Limpopo ( RAL) handed over a R40 million tender to three contractors and three civil engineering consultants to upgrade D548 Georgie’s Valley Road between Haenertsburg and Tzaneen on Wednesday.
Speaking during the handover, MEC Rachoene acknowledged that the extensive road damage was severe after several complaints by Haenertsburg residents.

Rachoene said the road is a key transport corridor for trucks transporting goods, especially in the agricultural sector.
The department has appointed three contractors; two are allocated 3 kilometers of the road, while the third contractor will be responsible for 5.2 kilometers.
The scope of work will include the maintenance and rehabilitation of sections between 19.2 km and 34.7 km along Road D548. The project will also include asphalt overlay, road marking, crack sealing, and the replacement of damaged base sections.
Amongst the attendees were the newly appointed mayor of Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Odas Ngobeni, RAL officials, and Tzaneen Business Chambers.
The contractors have been given 3 months duration to rehabilitate the road.
