South Africa is heading into a major court day on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, with several high-profile matters expected to draw national attention.
Suspended National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is expected back in the Pretoria Regional Court, where he is joined to a case involving alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and several other accused.

In Mpumalanga, taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and two co-accused are expected to appear in the Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court on extortion-related charges. Police say the arrests relate to an extortion case opened in 2025.
In KwaZulu-Natal, National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams is expected to apply for bail in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.
On the East Rand, suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi and Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla are also expected in court in a corruption-related matter.

In Cape Town, fraud accused Johannes Jacobs is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court for a bail application. Jacobs is linked to multiple fraud investigations in the Western Cape involving millions of rand.
Jacobs is also regarded as a person of interest in several other investigations involving Anna-Maria Joubert and a company allegedly operating under the name “Auto Unique Finance”.
It is expected to be one of the busiest and most closely watched court days of the week, with law enforcement, politics, municipal governance, and alleged organised crime all under the spotlight.
