A recent video of Jozi FM presenter Penny Ntuli dancing and twerking on the N3 highway has gone viral, sparking both praise and controversy. In response to the backlash, Penny has clarified that her intention was never to encourage unsafe behavior but rather to spread a positive message about living life without excessive worry.
The video, which showed Penny and a friend dancing on the side of the busy freeway, attracted criticism from safety authorities. The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) condemned the stunt, emphasizing the danger of such behavior on a national road. “Pedestrians are prohibited from being on freeways under the National Road Traffic Act (NRTA), and it’s illegal,” the RTMC stated.
In a follow-up video, Penny apologized for any harm her actions may have caused and urged her followers not to replicate what she did. “I never meant to hurt anyone,” Penny clarified. “Being on the side of the road is dangerous, and I understand that now. Please don’t turn this into a challenge.
The issue of Penny being a “role model” also came up, with fans questioning her influence on the youth. Penny responded by saying that she’s never given anyone the authority to look up to her as a role model and that it’s unfair to expect public figures to limit their personal expression because of how others might perceive it.
Penny emphasized that she’s not responsible for raising other people’s children and that her posts are meant to inspire, not dictate behavior. “I’m not here to raise other people’s children,” she said. “People can take motivation from my posts, but don’t put me in a position where I have to second-guess everything I do.”
