South Africa’s men and New Zealand’s women emerged victorious at the 2025 Rugby Sevens World Championship held in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The Springbok Sevens claimed the men’s title with a 19-5 win over Spain in the final. Key moments included an early try by Selvyn Davids, with Ronald Brown adding the conversion. Spain briefly narrowed the gap, but South Africa extended their lead with tries from Mfundo Ndhlovu and Ricardo Duartee.
In the women’s final, the Black Ferns dominated Australia 31-7. New Zealand took control early with tries from Jorja Miller and Michaela Brake. Despite Australia responding through Mackenzie Davis, the Kiwis sealed the match with further tries from Risi Pouri-Lane, Mahina Paul, and Sarah Hirini.

The tournament was held at Dignity Health Sports Park, the future venue for rugby sevens at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
