Israel Granted Extension to Respond to Genocide Allegations at World Court

The International Court of Justice has given Israel an additional six months to respond to South Africa’s genocide accusations related to its military actions in Gaza.

Originally, Israel was scheduled to submit its response by the end of July. That deadline has now been moved to 12 January 2026.

The extension was granted after Israel requested more time to address issues concerning evidence and the broad scope of the case.

South Africa opposed the request, arguing that the extension lacked sufficient justification and that any delay was unacceptable given the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
