ODENDAALSRUS – The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Welkom request assistance from the public in tracing a person of interest depicted in the identikit following an alleged rape incident that occurred on 5 August 2024, in Kutlwanong, Odendaalsrus. It is alleged that on the abovementioned date at about 22:00, the 25-year-old female victim was at the taxi rank where she boarded a white Hyundai going to K5 Section. An argument ensued when the Lesotho foreign national driver took a different direction towards Welkom. It is further alleged that the suspect put a cloth on the victim’s face, making her unconscious before he allegedly raped her. Upon regaining her consciousness, the victim managed to jump out of the vehicle and asked for help. Police are investigating a case of rape. An identikit of the suspect was compiled. He is 1.7 meters tall, medium build, fair in complexion, and estimated to be aged between 30 and 35.
