Suspect to appear in court for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

CAPE TOWN – Crime Prevention initiatives in Manenberg to combat gang violence yielded success when police members arrested a suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday evening, 01 August 2024.

Members of Public Order Police were busy with stop and search operations in Pecos Walk, Manenberg when they spotted an unknown man who started running when he saw the police vehicle approaching. The members gave chase and apprehended the suspect and upon searching him they found a .22 revolver with ammunition in his possession.

The 28-year-old suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 05 August 2024 on the mentioned charges.
