ANC Holds Lekgotla to Address Election Decline
The African National Congress (ANC) is holding its National Executive Committee (NEC) Lekgotla in Boksburg, Gauteng, from August 4 to 6, 2024, to address the party’s strategy following a decline in support during the May 2024 general elections. The event, attended by ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa and other prominent ANC figures, aims to refine action plans based on the ANC’s six priorities outlined in its 2024 Elections Manifesto. Discussions also include the impact of former President Jacob Zuma’s endorsement of the MK Party, which has risen to become the third largest party, and the ANC’s internal challenges such as weak structures and factionalism.
