Four Arrested After Suspected Drug Lab Discovered Near Sun City, North West
Four suspects have been arrested after police uncovered a suspected drug laboratory at Thabeng Section, Ramokokastad, near Sun City, in Mogwase? North West.
The intelligence-driven operation was conducted on Friday, 23 October, following information about suspected drug manufacturing activities at the premises.
Police seized chemicals, generators, gas cylinders, cooking equipment, more than 100 buckets and 20 bags of suspected drug material weighing approximately 40kg each.
Preliminary observations suggest the laboratory was used to manufacture Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine. The seized substances will undergo forensic analysis.
The suspects are two women aged 71 and 24 and two men aged 19 and 52. A fifth suspect fled the scene, and police are working to trace the individual.
The four suspects are expected to appear in the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 October, on charges of manufacturing and dealing in illicit drugs.
North West Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Arthur Peter Adams commended officers involved in the operation, saying illicit drugs threaten community safety, particularly the well-being of young people.
Police said operations targeting drug manufacturing and distribution networks would continue.
