MALAMULELE TO LIGHT UP IN HONOUR OF SKEEM MAFENYA AS MOURNERS PREPARE FOR CANDLELIGHT WALK
MALAMULELE, LIMPOPO – Grief, remembrance and solidarity have taken centre stage in Malamulele as family members, friends, social media influencers and community members gather to honour the life of comedian Khadziyane Ndivhuwo, popularly known as “Skeem Mafenya”.
His memorial service is underway at the Malamulele Community Hall on Thursday, where mourners are expected to celebrate the life of the entertainer whose death has left his supporters and the wider community mourning.
In a symbolic tribute to the late comedian, mourners have been encouraged to wear traditional Khiva attire as the community comes together to remember a man whose public identity was closely associated with comedy and social media entertainment.
The memorial service is also expected to provide an opportunity for social media influencers to present funds contributed by his followers and businesspeople in support of the bereaved family.
The gesture is expected to demonstrate the solidarity of those who followed his work and were touched by his presence in the entertainment space.
CANDLELIGHT WALK TO HONOUR HIS MEMORY
As the memorial service concludes, the community is expected to gather later on Thursday evening at Malamulele Bus Station for a candlelight walk and convoy to the scene where the comedian was reportedly stabbed.
Family members and politicians are expected to join the gathering as mourners pay tribute to his life and call for reflection on the circumstances surrounding his death.
Community members have been urged to bring their own candles to participate in the evening’s tribute.
The planned gathering is expected to turn the scene of the tragic incident into a place of remembrance, as those who knew and admired Skeem Mafenya come together to honour his memory.
For his family, friends and supporters, Thursday’s memorial and candlelight procession represent more than a farewell. They offer an opportunity to stand together in grief, celebrate his life and remember the entertainer behind the name that became familiar to his followers.
