The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a massive manhunt after prominent twin businessmen Kegomodicoe Lekone and Keabecoe Lekone, aged 52, were shot and killed in Bochabela, Bloemfontein in the Free State.

The victims, widely recognized as the owners of the popular Ekhayeni Lounge Bar (also known as Ekhayeni Pub & Grill), were ambushed on Wednesday morning.

Police reports indicate that Mangaung authorities responded to a shooting-in-progress complaint at approximately 08:51 on Ramatsoele Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered both brothers inside a charcoal-coloured Ford Ranger near the gates of the premises, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel from ER24 declared both men dead at the scene.

According to an eyewitness account, an unidentified man was spotted running from the scene immediately after the gunfire ceased.

The suspect reportedly jumped into a waiting white Chevrolet Aveo hatchback, which then sped away into the township with other occupants inside.

The South African Police Service has officially opened a double murder investigation.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information regarding the suspects or the getaway vehicle to urgently contact Colonel Msokoli Bolsick at 082 466 8530, report anonymously via Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS mobile app.
