Mokonyane attends court as Mogalakwena municipal manager faces corruption charges
MOKOPANE: Newly formed political party ( OTM) president and whistleblower Victor Mokonyane, accompanied by party members, is attending proceedings at the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo, where the Mogalakwena Local Municipality’s municipal manager is making his first court appearance on charges of fraud and corruption.
The municipal manager was arrested by the Hawks after allegedly evading arrest for some time.
It is alleged that he approved a fleet contract worth R4 million before authorising payments totalling R24 million in connection with the same contract, resulting in financial losses for the municipality.
The allegations further state that R230,000 was transferred to a company owned by the municipal manager, which is involved in fuel sales, as alleged gratification.
The case is expected to shed further light on the allegations against the municipal manager.
