From the Mic to the World: Uncool MC Drops Highly Anticipated Debut EP “Sesikude”
After years of dominating the industry as a premier MC, DJ, and collaborator, Uncool MC officially steps into the spotlight as a recording artist today with the release of his debut EP, “Sesikude,” via gamma.
Meaning “we have come far,” Sesikude is a sonic autobiography detailing the artist’s remarkable journey.
The project traces his roots from a childhood in Kwa-Thema to his move up north, building powerful industry alliances, and ultimately traversing the globe fueled by his craft.
The EP marks a pivotal shift for Uncool MC. While he has spent years elevating major live events and working behind the mic alongside massive industry names, this project finds him taking full ownership of his narrative as a solo performing and recording artist.
“The title meaning is centred around the journey I have taken through my art of music,” Uncool MC explains. “This is a reflection of my decision to transition from an MC into a full performing artist and DJ. I’ve decided to share my story of my experiences throughout my childhood memories, growing up in Kwa-Thema and moving up north to rub shoulders with my fellow colleagues in the industry and going on to travel the world.”
The road to Sesikude was paved by the explosive success of the lead single, “Setla,” released on 4 September.
Featuring amapiano heavyweights DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic, and Ntsako XVI, the track skyrocketed to the No. 1 position on South African radio and remains a consistent chart fixture.
Uncool MC’s industry impact is already backed by staggering numbers.
His overall catalogue has surpassed 140 million Spotify streams across his individual releases and collaborative works. He has also graced major global and local stages, including:Cotton Fest,Piano People,Afro Nation and Fact Durban Rocks.
On the eve of the release, media and industry insiders gathered for an exclusive listening session at CÉ LA VI in Sandton.
The high-profile evening drew a packed crowd, generating strong praise for the EP’s depth and a standout live performance of “Setla” by Uncool MC.

“Throughout the years of collaborations, I identified certain elements of myself that I saw as my strength to be able to start putting together my own music,” he says. “This means everything to me because I put my all in order for people to experience Uncool MC the artist.”
