Makgalwa reveals why Kaizer Chiefs move fell through

Simba SC attacker Keletso Makgalwa has revealed why his move to Kaizer Chiefs failed to materialise at the start of the season despite receiving what he described as a “good offer” from Amakhosi.

The 29-year-old parted ways with Sekhukhune United at the end of last season before joining Tanzanian giants Simba SC for the 2026/27 campaign.

Makgalwa confirmed that Chiefs were interested in signing him, but their approach came too late as he had already decided he wanted to continue his career outside South Africa.

“Yes, Chiefs were one of the teams that were interested in my services. It was a good offer from them, but I wanted to play elsewhere outside South Africa,” Makgalwa told FARPost.

He explained that he discussed the situation with his agent, Ntobatsi Masegela, and Kaizer Motaung Jr, but Simba’s approach changed the situation.

“I didn’t really decline the offer. They came late, to be honest. They were busy finalising their squad, and Simba came. So I was like, let me just go to Simba,” he added.

Despite choosing Simba, Makgalwa has not closed the door on a future move to Naturena.

“It is still a dream for me because, as a young boy from Mokopane, it was one of my dreams to play for Kaizer Chiefs. So I think if that move comes, I will take it.”

For now, however, his focus is on helping Simba win the league and compete strongly in the CAF Champions League under coach Steve Barker.
