Court Hears Electronic Evidence and Strip Club Allegations in Shadrack Sibiya Bail Hearing
The Randburg Magistrates Court has received detailed testimony regarding the criminal charges filed against suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya. The 59-year-old official faces serious counts, including rape, human trafficking, and the sexual grooming of a minor.
During the formal bail application, the investigating officer presented evidence concerning incidents alleged to have occurred between May and August 2026.
According to the prosecution, General Sibiya accompanied an 18-year-old woman and her 16-year-old friend to a venue in Sandton, where alcohol was consumed.
Witness statements submitted to the court allege that a game was played and that Sibiya placed repeated social pressure on the 18-year-old during the outing.
The state further alleges that the group subsequently moved to a Sandton hotel, where the 18-year-old became incapacitated and was assaulted.
Testimonies indicate that Sibiya made remarks regarding the victim’s personal life choices prior to the encounter. Sibiya has denied the allegations of non-consensual contact, maintaining that the interaction was consensual.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has introduced electronic communication logs into the record, which the state argues document the systematic grooming of the 16-year-old companion.
According to court submissions, the accused utilized digital platforms to solicit explicit media files from the minor.
Phone records presented by the investigation team indicate a 51-minute communication session, during which the accused reportedly instructed the minor to restrict her personal relationships and delete their message history to prevent discovery.
The prosecution further detailed late-night message exchanges occurring around midnight, during which further media files were solicited.
The court transcript noted that during these interactions, Sibiya referenced professional pressures arising from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, a topic the minor indicated she did not understand.
The state is opposing the bail application, citing concerns related to witness safety and potential flight risks. Sibiya remains under detention at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre as the legal proceedings continue.
