23-Year-Old Woman Arrested Following Brazen Driver Hijack-Robbery in Mpumalanga; Male Accomplices Hunted
A 23-year-old woman is behind bars following a swift police response to a violent robbery targeting a driver on Friday.
Law enforcement authorities have launched a massive manhunt for a group of men who assisted her in orchestrating the crime.
According to police spokespersons, the young woman was part of an armed group that ambushed and robbed a driver yesterday.
While she was successfully cornered and apprehended by law enforcement shortly after the incident, her male accomplices managed to evade arrest and fled the scene.
Local authorities confirmed that an active investigation is underway to track down the remaining suspects.
Detectives are currently investigating whether this specific group is linked to a broader network operating in the region, particularly looking into transit and transport-related crime rings.
“We have successfully arrested the female suspect, who is currently in custody and facing charges of armed robbery,” a police statement noted. “Our teams are working around the clock to track down the men who fled. We urge members of the community who may have witnessed the incident or have information on their whereabouts to come forward immediately.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the local Magistrate’s Court early next week.
