NORTHERN CAPE – The efforts by members of the SAPS in the ZFM District for their continuous fight against drugs was applauded by the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga. The members confiscated drugs in their respective station precincts during operation Shanela on Friday, 30 August 2024. Upington Border Police reacted to information about an alleged male person with a large amount of dagga at the taxi rank in Upington while they were conducting patrols in the CBD area. The suspect was found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R301 700-00. Meanwhile, in Keimoes, Kakamas and Augrabies, during stop and searches and house raidings, a total amount of R13 170-00 worth of dagga, tik and mandrax tablets were confiscated. The police managed to detain six suspects aged between 27 and 40 for dealing in drugs. Operation Shanela remains robust in combating crimes in the province. Ends
