2 July 2024 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) is pleased with the progress made by the youthful South African men’s national team led by Bafana Bafana assistant coach Helman Mkhalele at the COSAFA Cup in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
As Mkhalele himself explained on the eve of the tournament, the main objective of participating in the regional event is to develop a larger pool of players and further SAFA’s long-term vision. This tournament gives young players an opportunity to gain international experience and compete against neighbouring countries at a high level.
Mkhalele has had the opportunity to run the rule over these young players in the last few days and will be better placed to communicate his findings to senior national team coach Hugo Broos. He will be able to provide feedback as national team coaches are constantly looking for players to sustain performance and improve on it.
SAFA would like to wish the team well as they continue on their journey in the COSAFA Cup.
