The community of Woodlands in Mitchells Plain is reeling after a horrifying incident in which a 17-year-old boy was reportedly tricked into drinking drain acid at a local business, Mitchells Butchery.
The teenager is currently in the hospital with serious internal injuries, including damage to his stomach and oesophagus. What was initially dismissed as a prank has now sparked outrage among residents, who are demanding a full police investigation and justice for the young victim.
Police have confirmed that a case of attempted murder has been opened, but so far, no arrests have been made. Community member Raafiqah Ganger voiced the frustration of many locals, calling for accountability while urging fellow residents to remain calm and avoid taking matters into their own hands. “We want justice, not more chaos,” she said.
The owners of the butchery have not made any public statements since the incident. Meanwhile, the community waits anxiously for answers and action.
