A 26-year-old woman will appear in court tomorrow for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the chest this weekend.
Free State Policespokesperson Capt Loraine Earle said men and women in Blue stationed at Thabong Policestation in Welkom in the Free State have launched an investigation into an attempted murder case following an incident that occurred on Sunday, 1 June 2025, at approximately 17:15. According to preliminary reports, a 29-year-old male was resting at his residence in Thabong when his girlfriend arrived at the premises accompanied by her family.
During the visit, a verbal altercation allegedly took place, during which the male victim requested money to travel to Botshabelo. The request was denied and a physical altercation reportedly ensued, during which the victim allegedly assaulted the suspect by slapping her multiple times.
It is alleged that the woman then armed herself with a knife and stabbed the man in the chest. The victim sustained a stab wound to the left side of his chest and received medical attention.
The suspect, a 26-year-old female, was arrested at the scene and has since been charged. She is expected to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for her first appearance.
