Media Statement WINBURG – Swift action by Winburg SAPS members led to the arrest of an alleged rapist in Makeleketla, Winburg. It is reported that on Thursday, 05 December 2024, at about 23:20, the 41-year-old woman was coming from a tavern and headed to another location when she was accosted by an unknown male. He allegedly pointed her with a knife and forcefully dragged her before raping her. However, local community patrollers came to the aid of the victim and immediately alerted the police who rushed to the scene. The suspect was subsequently arrested for rape. He will appear on Monday, 09 December 2024, in the Winburg Magistrate’s Court. Ends
