FREE STATE – Welkom Partnership Policing held awareness campaign together with stakeholders like Department of Correctional Services, Emergency Medical Services, Department of Social Development, Ministry of Fraternal and Motale Regeneration, Matjhabeng Municipality, Lejweleputswa GBVF Ambassador, SANCA, Safer South Africa Foundation, Department of Road and Safety, Sector Crime Forum and Captain Dlamini from Lejweleputswa District Community Policing Officer held on the 27 March 2024 from 10:00 at Holy Ghost Fire Church in Rheederspark , Welkom The Programme was directed by Mr Kgotso Matsinyane Captain Kenalemang Mphatsoe addresses residents about how to report crime especially Domestic Violence, names of Sectors and that Welkom Policing precinct is divided into Sectors, there are Community patrollers who are patrolling to ensure that residents and and feel safe. Captain Thembi Motlomelo spoke about victim friendly rooms that are used to take statements, how to report the unbecoming behavior of SAPS members to Section Commander who is on duty, Detective Commander, Visible Policing Commander and if there was no help the Station Commander, Brigadier Disebo Cezula can be informed or register Complaint Against The SAPS. Captain Mmami Dlamini encouraged residents to support all the endeavors of the SAPS together with Community Policing Forums and meetings must be attended so that they can be informed about trends of crimes and hotspots. Paroles were visited in the vicinity of Rheederpark, they raised their concerns that some of the residents do not treat them well and ended up fighting back and going back to prison. An appeal is made from Correctional Services that parolees to be given second chances as they are in the process of been rehabilitated.
