Media Statement ODENDAALSRUS – Welkom Anti-Gang Unit recovered a firearm and arrested a wanted business burglary suspect in Kutlwanong. On Tuesday, 09 April 2024 at about 06:00, dedicated members of the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit departed from Welkom to Phuthaditjhaba following up on information about an unlicensed firearm. The information led the members to Bluegumbosch where the firearm was recovered hidden near an open field. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing and an inquiry docket was therefore registered at Phuthaditjhaba Police Station. Back in Lejweleputswa on Wednesday 10 April 2024 at about 17:30, Welkom Anti-Gang Members received intelligence-led information about the whereabouts of a wanted suspect in Kutlwanong, Odendaalsrus. The suspect was wanted for a business burglary incident committed in February at one of the local taverns. Members managed to locate the suspect and apprehend him before he made an attempt to evade arrest, in K6 Section, Kutlwanong. The 24-year-old suspect will appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court soon for business burglary. Ends
