WEATHER ALERT:
The South African Weather Service issued the following warnings:
Yellow Level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms resulting in localised flooding and damage to settlements and property is expected over the Free State, eastern and northern parts of the Northern Cape and the North West, excluding the northeastern parts. Similar stormy conditions are also expected over Gauteng, southern and eastern Limpopo, Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga as well as western and southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, including central parts of the Eastern Cape.
Orange level 5 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of bridges, roads and settlements is expected over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and the southwestern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
WEATHER IN YOUR REGION
Gauteng is expected to cloudy and cool to warm, with widespread showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index is high.
Mpumalanga will be cloudy and warm too cool, with widespread showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo is expected to be hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, which will be widespread in the south and east of the province. It will be cloudy
North West will have widespread showers and thundershowers. It will be cloudy and warm.
Free State is expected to have widespread showers and thundershowers, which will be scattered in the southeast. The weather will be cloudy and cool to warm
Northern Cape will be cloudy and warm with widespread and thundershowers scattered. Elsewhere, the province will see partly with isolated thundershowers over the central parts, and morning fog can be expected along the coast, where it will be cool.
“The wind along the coast will be light southwesterly, becoming fresh southerly to southeasterly from the afternoon,” said the weather service.
Western Cape will be fine in the West. Otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and warm to hot with morning rain along the South Coast. The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
“The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to southeasterly but strong along the southwest coast,” said the weather service.
The Eastern Half of the Eastern Cape is expected to be cool in places along the coast. Elsewhere the province will be cloudy and cold, with widespread showers and thundershowers. However, it will be scattered in the West.
“The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly, becoming southeasterly in the evening,” the weather service said.
KwaZulu-Natal will start partly cloudy in the north but will be cloudy and warm to cool in the South and West. Widespread showers and thundershowers are expected, which will be scattered in the northeast. The expected UVB sunburn index is high.
“the wind along the coast will be moderate northeasterly in the north in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to southwesterly.”
