Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Endeavours to curb the influx of illicit drugs into the Western Cape once again yielded excellent results when drugs with an estimated street value of R900 000 was confiscated along the N2 highway at the entrance to Plettenberg Bay. On Tuesday, police in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies conducted a roadblock near the Tsitsikamma Toll Gate. Members attached to the Tsitsikamma K9 pulled over a vehicle and upon searching found a consignment of drugs concealed inside. The police confiscated 1,5 kilogram of cocaine and arrested the driver of the vehicle. The 56-year-old suspect remains in police custody. He is expected to make his first court appearance in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrates’ court on Thursday, 19 September 2024 on a charge of dealing in drugs. The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General (Adv.) Thembisile Patekile commended the forces for their efforts to eradicate the drug trafficking.
