Man fatally shot in early morning drive-by in Waterloo, KZN
A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in a suspected drive-by shooting on Jabu Ngcobo Road in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday morning.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the organisation received a call around 06h57 alerting them to an active shooting in the area. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived to find a white VW Polo riddled with bullets, crashed against a tree. The driver was discovered slumped in the seat, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
Preliminary information suggests that the attackers fled in an Isuzu bakkie, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Sources indicate the deceased may have had ties to the taxi industry. Authorities are investigating the incident.
