ZWELITSHA – A 33-year-old man was fatally shot, after he allegedly pulled a firearm when the police were attempting to arrest him at Ntshiqo location in Tsolo. The second suspect (19) was arrested and is due to appear in court today 04 October 2024. On Thursday, 3 October 2024 around 14:15, it is alleged that members from various specialized units were acting on information about one of the wanted suspects, who was believed to be hiding at the house in Tsolo. Police officers on arrival at the scene, few male suspects started running out of the house in different directions, but one of them started to pull out a firearm and was fatally shot. Police managed to arrest one of the men, who were fleeing the scene. An inquest docket was opened, and the matter is going to be investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID). The arrested man (19) was linked in few criminal cases, and is due to appear in Tsolo magistrate’s court today 4 October 2024 on charges ranging from robbery with aggravating circumstances to common robbery. In a separate incident, on Thursday, 3 October 2024, a 52-year-old woman was arrested in Ngqeleni in possession of two rifle magazines with ammunition. She is due to appear in the Ngqeleni magistrate’s court soon on charges of contravention of the Firearms Control Act. Ends
