Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The Carnarvon Regional Court recently handed down a 16 years’ prison sentence to Byrone Maritz (19), for the murder of Henry Williams (40) and the assault of his girlfriend. During the early hours on 27 July 2024, the accused was drinking with Williams and his girlfriend when an argument broke out, and the accused fatally stabbed him and assaulted his girlfriend. Maritz was subsequently arrested and sentenced on 18 February 2025 for murder and assault with the intent to commit grievous bodily harm. The SAPS Management commended Detective Constable Shanton Thompson for his meticulous investigation that led to the conviction and imprisonment sentence.
