Violent clash in Soshanguve leaves four dead and eight injured
A violent shooting at the Marry Me Informal Settlement early this morning has left four people dead and eight others injured.
The South African Police Service responded to the crime scene at approximately 06h00, where they discovered the bodies of four individuals with gunshot wounds and signs of being partially burned.
According to witnesses, the eight injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals by private vehicles and ambulances.
Preliminary investigations reveal that around 03h00, a group of community-based patrollers, who were on their routine patrols, encountered five individuals on the street.
A quarrel reportedly broke out between the group and the five individuals, which quickly escalated into gunfire, resulting in the tragic loss of life and several injuries.
The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. Provincial and District Serious and Violent Crime Investigations, along with forensic experts, are currently on the scene, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. Public Order Police and local Soshanguve officers have been deployed to the area to maintain stability while investigations continue.
