MOFFATVIEW – On Tuesday, 26 November 2024, members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) were actively deployed in identified hotspot areas within the Moffatview policing precinct. During their routine patrol and stop-and-search operations at the corner of Swinburne and Outspan Street, Denvale Court, South Hills, AGU members noticed a male individual exhibiting suspicious behaviour. Based on their observations, the AGU members approached the individual and requested permission to conduct a search, which was granted. During the search, the AGU members discovered and seized eleven (11) ziplock packets containing a substance suspected to be Khat/CAT drugs, and sixteen (16) full tablets suspected to be Mandrax, which was in his possession. The 25-year-old suspect, who identified himself, was promptly informed of his arrest for possession of drugs. He has since been transported to the nearest police station for processing and detention. He will appear before the respective court soon. The Anti-Gang Unit Commander, Brigadier Maphoto commended the vigilance of the AGU members and furthermore placed an emphasis on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious and criminal activities to Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111, or alternatively by downloading the MySAPS App onto any smart device.
