Media Statement MTHATHA – A crime intelligence driven operation led to the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle and the arrest of a 37-year-old male suspect at Payne locality in Mthatha by the District Task Team (DTT). Police operationalised information and proceeded to the identified homestead and found the suspected stolen vehicle (ISUZU KB 250 – White) with the suspect. Upon further investigation, it was established the vehicle have been stolen in Kwazakhele, Gqeberha in November 2023. The 37-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and detained at Mthatha Central police station, awaiting his court appearance in Mthatha Magistrate’s Court on Monday 19 August 2024. The OR TAMBO District Commissioner, Major General Pumzile Cetyana, commended the Crime Intelligence Unit and DTT (District Task Team) for the job well done in recovering the stolen vehicle and arresting the suspect.
